[FR]&nbsp; Il vaut mieux tenter quelque chose plutôt que de ne rien faire. C’est la piste que j’explore dans ce nouveau travail, développé lors d’une résidence à l’Université de Montpellier. Il s’agit d’essayer de sortir de cette situation de torpeur, lorsque le monde s’emplit de tant de violence et que nos actes semblent vains. Dans ce désespoir assumé, je choisis d’agir seul, absurdement seul, mais d’agir quand même. Céder à la tentation de se sauver, déserter le monde et ses innombrables défis. Embrassant la notion d’escapism dans un sens quasi littéral, soit la tendance à s’échapper du monde réel pour la sécurité d’un monde imaginaire, ce travail donne corps à ces tentatives de trouver un échappatoire, lorsque tout semble s’effondrer. Le scaphandre spatial agit ici comme une nouvelle peau protectrice, une capsule d’urgence offrant l’espace d’un instant la possibilité de se projeter ailleurs. Dans ce travail de DIY science-fictionnel aux accents survivalistes, je m’approprie les recherches techniques et historiques pour affronter le vide spatial, à la fois refuge fantasmé et milieu hostile à l’être humain. Après un temps de recherche méticuleux et la collecte des matériaux nécessaires, je me suis lancé dans cette performance au long cours dans le but de confectionner ma dernière enveloppe. This is the path I am exploring in this new work, developed during a residency at the Montpellier Faculty. It is about trying to break out of this state of torpor, when the world is filled with so much violence and our actions seem futile. In this accepted despair, I choose to act alone, absurdly alone, but to act nonetheless. Giving in to the temptation to save oneself, to desert the world and its countless challenges. Embracing the notion of escapism in an almost literal sense, as the tendency to escape from the real world to the safety of an imaginary world, this work gives substance to these attempts to find an escape when everything seems to be falling apart. The spacesuit acts here as a new protective skin, an emergency capsule offering, for a moment, the possibility of projecting oneself elsewhere. In this DIY science fiction work with survivalist overtones, I appropriate technical and historical research to confront the vacuum of space, both a fantasized refuge and a hostile environment for human beings. After meticulous research and gathering the necessary materials, I embarked on this long- term performance with the aim of crafting my final envelope. résidence de création au PAD d’Angers, sur une invitation de la cie nathalie béasse. [FR] D’une superficie d’à peine 1 km2, l’île Tromelin fut en 1761 le théâtre du naufrage de l’Utile, un navire négrier de la Compagnie des Indes ayant embarqué illégalement 160 esclaves malgaches. En raison d’une erreur de navigation, le navire percuta la barrière de corail de l’île en pleine nuit. Vingt membres du personnel de bord ainsi que la moitié des esclaves périrent noyés. Le reste de l’équipage s’affaira à construire une embarcation de fortune grâce à l’aide des esclaves et partit en leur promettant de revenir les chercher. Le sauvetage n’arriva que 15 ans plus tard, retrouvant 7 survivantes et un enfant de huit mois. Ma recherche plastique évolue ici autour de figures en argile émergeant d’un sable mouvant hanté, explorant l’île Tromelin comme un espace de lutte et de résilience.[EN] Covering an area of just 1 km2, Tromelin Island was in 1761 the scene of the shipwreck of l'Utile, a slave-trading vessel belonging to the Compagnie des Indes that had taken on board illegally 160 Malagasy slaves. The rest of the crew set about building a makeshift boat with the help of the captives and left, promising to come back for them. The rescue did not come until 15 years later, when found 7 survivors and an eight-month-old child. Il fait écho au roman culte «Le sang noir» de l’écrivain briochin Louis Guilloux, dépeignant une société civile plongée dans le déni. À travers une exploration des formes primitives de l’image numérique, le nombre restreint de pixels est ici envisagé comme un échec de la photographie à représenter le réel. Le récit aborde les propres contradictions de l’adolescent et met en évidence sa peur de se confronter à la brutalité du monde. La fuite des cristaux liquides est un phénomène survenant lorsqu’un écran LCD se brise. L’époque dans laquelle vit Arthur n’a rien de réconfortant, et l’indifférence de son entourage face à l’horreur en direct n’arrange pas la situation. Développant un comportement phobique face aux images bien trop réelles, il tente tant bien que mal de s’accrocher à son quotidien et de profiter de ses vacances d’été. It is an echo of the cult novel “Le sang noir” by Brioche writer Louis Guilloux, depicting a civil society plunged into denial. Through an exploration of the primitive forms of the digital image, the restricted number of pixels is seen here as a failure of photography to represent reality. The story addresses the teenager's own contradictions, highlighting his fear of confronting the brutality of the world. Liquid crystal leakage is a phenomenon that occurs when an LCD screen breaks. There's nothing comforting about the times in which Arthur lives, and the indifference of those around him to real-live horror doesn't help the situation. Developing a phobic behavior in the face of all-too-real images, he tries as best he can to hold on to his everyday life and enjoy his summer vacation. Perte de mémoire autobiographique provoquée par un stress intense, ce mécanisme de protection est caractérisé par une déconnexion entre l’amygdale et l’hippocampe lors d’un événement traumatique. À la manière d’une recherche dans un grenier interdit, je tente de parvenir à ces souvenirs inaccessibles. Le récit évolue autour de la quête obsessionnelle de débloquer cette mémoire enfouie dans l’inconscient. Composé de plusieurs chapitres, il débute par des images d’archives provenant de mes premiers tâtonnements photographiques entre mes cinq et dix ans.[EN] Black-out is the result of a two-year personal investigation into my experience of dissociative amnesia. Autobiographical memory loss caused by intense stress, this protective mechanism is characterized by a disconnection between the amygdala and the hippocampus during a traumatic event. Like searching through a forbidden attic, I attempt to reach these inaccessible memories. The narrative revolves around the obsessive quest to unlock this memory buried within the unconscious.Composed of multiple chapters, it begins with archival images from my first experiments with photography between the ages of five and ten.
